A pair of Golden Rams prepare to compete at D-II Track&Field Championships

Two members of the Golden Rams Track & Field team are ready to compete at the 2023 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The championships will be held May 25th-27th inside the CSU Pueblo ThunderBowl in Pueblo, Colorado with Colorado State University, Pueblo serving as host.

A total of 754 participants, 377 men and 377 women, will compete in the championships. Student-athletes qualified for the championships by reaching a provisional standard established for each event.

The Golden Rams will be represented this year by Sydney Blackburn and Nathalia Rowe.

Rowe, a transfer Sophomore, enters the competition as the #20 seed in the Women’s 400m Hurdles with a personal best time of 1:00.67. Nathalia is making her 1st appearance at The NCAA Outdoor Championships this year. She is also the SIAC Champion in the 400m Hurdles. 

Blackburn, a Junior, enters the competition as the #11 seed in the Women’s Discus with a mark of 48.40m. She is making her 3rd appearance at The NCAA Outdoor Championships this year. Blackburn placed 3rd at The 2022 NCAA Championships with a throw of 49.09m. Sydney is the current school record holder, the SIAC Conference record holder and the back-to-back SIAC Champion in the discus.

Schedule
The first Golden Ram to see action at the NCAA Outdoor Championships will be Nathalia Rowe, in the women’s 400m Hurdle Prelims on Thursday at 7:40pm(MDT) *9:40pmEDT. Nathalia will be in heat three of three. The top two in each heat and the next three best times will advance to the finals, which is scheduled for Saturday at 7:20pm(MDT) *9:20pm(EDT)

On Friday, Sydney Blackburn will compete in the women’s Discus at 2:00pm(MDT) *4:00pm(EDT). Sydney will be the first thrower in the second flight. The top nine individuals out of both flights  combined, will advance to the finals. Finals will begin approximately 15 minutes following the announcement of the finalists.
