Alabama A&M looks to keep wins rolling against Florida A&M

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The Alabama A&M women’s basketball program will head to Tallahassee this weekend looking to build on momentum with a meeting against Florida A&M inside the Al Lawson Center on Saturday afternoon. 

The Bulldogs (8-9, 6-1 SWAC) are currently tied for first place in the conference standings and have won three consecutive games, starting with the neutral site victory over rival Alabama State (Jan. 16), followed by home wins over Texas Southern (Jan. 21) and Prairie View A&M (Jan. 23).

A&M boasts one the league’s top defenses so far on the year, holding opponents to just 63.6 points per contest, along with holding them to just 39 percent shooting from the field, good for third in the SWAC. Meanwhile in the individual rankings, both Toni Grace (Fishers, Ind.) and Amani Free (Clay, N.Y.) are among the top-15 of scorers in the conference at 12.1 and 11.5 points per game respectively.

The Rattlers (3-15, 1-6 SWAC) are coming in after dropping two straight conference games, with their last appearance being a 72-51 loss to Jackson State, where they had four players score in double figures. On the season, Dylan Horton is their lone double figure scorer at 16.8 points, while Ahriahna Grizzle is near the mark at 9.3 points per contest. They are currently 3-3 at home this season.
