Albany State hoops split double tilt with Benedict

The Golden Rams Men’s Basketball lost a close one to the Benedict College Tigers (84-87) at the HRC Arena on Saturday afternoon. 

The Golden Rams fall to (7-9) overall and (5-5) in the SIAC.  The Golden Rams fall to (0-5) on the Road.  The Tigers improved to (14-2) overall and (8-2) in the SIAC.

Five players scored in double figures for the Golden Rams. Blaise Wallace finished the game with 25 points and 15 rebounds. Jordan Simpson finished the game with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Shakur Poteat finished with 15 points. Terin Wofford scored 13 points and 4 rebounds.  Jamir Moores scored 13 points and 4 rebounds.

Tim Moore led the Tigers with 29 points. 

The Golden Rams Women’s Basketball team won against the Benedict College Tigers (53-50) at the HRC Arena on Saturday afternoon. 

The Golden Rams season record now stands at (3-15) overall and (3-7) in the SIAC. The Tigers move to (3-13) overall and (1-8) in the SIAC. 

A total of 2 players scored in double figures for the Golden Rams. 

Elisa Saffold scored 14 points and 5 rebounds. Keyra Peterson had 14 points and 3 rebounds.

Aniyah Scales led the Tigers with 18 points

Coach said after the game ” It’s a Big Win for the team, I’m proud of how the Ladies played and how they played through Adversity”.

The Golden Rams will be back in action on Monday as they continue their trip on the road against Allen University on January 22nd with games at 5:30 pm for the Women and 7:45 pm for the Men.
