Albany State softball extended their win streak to 13 after a dominating sweep of Allen University, winning the games by a combined 23-0 ( 12-0 in Game 1 and 11-0 in Game 2).
Game 1
Albany State got right to work in the first inning scoring ten runs and essentially putting the game out of reach from that point forward. In the third inning, the Golden Rams would add two more runs, one coming on wild pitch and the second on a Madison Hurts double that plated Keyatta Ayers. Romona McLeod got the win, allowing just one hit and string out five in her three innings of work, which was the only Allen hit of the game, a Ruth Davis single in the top of the 3rd.
Game 2
in the second game of the doubleheader, the Golden Rams once again got off to a strong start, scoring four runs in the bottom of the first inning. The first came on a Tiana McFarland single that plated Keyatta Ayers. McFarland herself would score on a double from Glory Seay that made the score 2-0. Later in the inning, a single from Ciweya Tennison would score two last two runs.
The second inning was another productive one for the Golden Rams. Hurts scored the first run of the frame after stealing third base. Mykhalyla Carroll would blast a two-run homer that made the score 7-0. A Trista Murphy RBI single later in the inning brought the score to 8-0, and a fielding error would eventually allow Murphy to score, pushing the Golden Ram advantage to 9-0.
An Ayers RBI single in the bottom of the third and a De’Laynie Hollis RBI double in the fourth would plate the Rams’ final two runs of the day.
Trista Murple got the win, giving up two hits, and striking out four in her three innings of work.
Up next for the Albany State softball team, now 27-3, is the last game of their series with Allen, which is happening on April 3 with first pitch being scheduled for 1PM CST.
