Albany State was was scheduled to kick off its 2023 football season Thursday evening with a road matchup against the Bulldogs of Wingate University. Due to the potentially severe weather that will come with Hurricane Idalia, the game, which is scheduled to take place at Irwin Belk Stadium in Wingate, North Carolina, has now been moved to Friday, September 1 at 4:00 PM EST.
“Putting safety above all, we’ve decided to move out Thursday football game at Wingate University to Friday at 4pm, in light of the impending weather from Hurricane Idalia. Our players, coaches and staff’s well-being is our top priority. A heartfelt thank you to Wingate AD Joe Reich fir his flexibility and understanding.
