Allen University head football coach Cedric Pearl is excited to announce the hiring of Jerrell Allen to the Yellow Jackets’ coaching staff. Allen will serve as the defensive back coach for the football program.
“Jerrell always displayed the leadership and reliability that it takes to be successful as a coach when he played for me,” said head football coach Cedric Pearl. “I’m excited about Jerrell joining my staff as one of the best up-and-coming coaches around.”
Allen arrives in Columbia after most recently serving as an assistant coach at Christian Community College in Detroit, Michigan. In his two seasons with the Lions, Allen served as the defensive coordinator, recruiting coordinator, and academic advisor for the NJCAA program. He has also had coaching stops at Eastpointe High School in Eastpointe, Michigan, and Hamtramck High School in Hamtramck, Michigan.
As a former SIAC student-athlete, this will be Allen’s first stint back in the conference in a coaching capacity. During the 2017 and 2018 seasons, Allen was a linebacker and defensive back at Central State University, where he played for Pearl. Allen graduated from CSU in May 2019 with his Bachelor of Science in Humanities and Social Work.
