Champion gymnast Kyrstin Johnson has signed with Temple University. Three HBCUs get votes in the Stats Perform FCS Preseason Top 25 Poll

The Stats Performed FCS Preseason Top 25 Poll was released and three HBCUs- Florida A&M, North Carolina Central, and Alabama State all received votes.  Last season the Rattlers of Florida A&M 12-1 (8-0) as the SWAC and the Celebration Bowl champions. They ended the 2023 campaign ranked 11th in the Stats Perform FCS Top 25 poll. FAMU received 65 votes in the preseason poll, placing the Rattlers 30th. Florida A&M punter Trey Wilhoit named to FCS Punter of the Year Watch List

Last season the Eastern Illinois transfer was second in the SWAC, averaging 44.2 yards per kick and led the conference with 15 punts of 50 or more yards. These Kobe IV Protros were made for Sacramento Kings power forward and Canadian national team member Trey Lyles. They feature a red, predominantly leather upper with Flywire-equipped side panels. On the aforementioned side panels reside white snake-scaled textured Swooshes. A Kobe logo appears on the tongue, while a Maple Leaf, the national symbol of Canada, can be seen on the rear heel. The preseason accolades keep piling up for Howard University defensive back Kenny Gallop Jr. Already previously named to four preseason All-America teams, the senior defensive back was named to the Phil Steele FCS Preseason All-America Team. Tarik Cohen retires from football, ends comeback bid

Despite him saying he “definitely” feels all the way back earlier this week, former North Carolina A&T running back Tarik Cohen has announced his retirement from the game of football.  After a stellar career at NCAT that saw him leave as MEAC’s all-time leading rusher with 5,619 yards, while also setting school records for rushing touchdowns (56), total touchdowns (59), and points, Cohen was drafted in the 4th round, 119th overall, by the Chicago Bears in the 2017 NFL Draft. We recently highlighted Jewell Loyd rocking a red iteration of the “USA” Kobe IV Protro in Olympic action and now fellow Olympian and two-time NBA Champion Jrue Holiday was spotted in a white-based iteration of these Kobes.  Its white upper is spread across a combination of leather and FlyWire-equipped side panels.
