The Dallas Wings announced Wednesday that rookie guard Azzi Fudd will miss the remainder of the 2026 WNBA season after undergoing an arthroscopic procedure on her right knee.
According to the team, the procedure was performed to address ongoing soreness in Fudd’s right knee. The Wings did not provide a timetable for her recovery beyond confirming she will not return this season.
The setback brings an early end to Fudd’s highly anticipated rookie campaign. Selected near the top of the 2026 WNBA Draft after a standout collegiate career at UConn, Fudd quickly established herself as one of the league’s promising young scorers.
In 30 games, Fudd averaged 13.1 points, 1.8 assists, and 1.7 rebounds per game while shooting 45.6% from the field, 39.7% from three-point range, and 82.6% from the free-throw line. Her efficient perimeter shooting and offensive versatility provided a glimpse of the impact she can have as a cornerstone for the Wings.
The Wings will now move forward without one of their key young building blocks as they continue the season. The organization is expected to provide additional updates on Fudd’s rehabilitation as she begins the recovery process.
While the injury is a disappointing development for both Fudd and the franchise, the expectation is that the procedure will address the lingering knee issue and position her for a healthy return ahead of the 2027 season.
