Making A Difference: Nike produces PPE in fight against COVID-19

Teams from Nike’s innovation, manufacturing and product have been working with health care pros from Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) to produce Product Protective Equipment in the form of full-face shields and powered air-purifying respirator (PAPR) lenses to provide to health care workers. Nike has taken materials-footwear collar padding, apparel threads and TPU from air units- used in its footwear and repurposed them to be used in PPE. The “Command Force” Lebron 17 continues a tradition of paying homage to classic Nike silhouettes, in this case being the Nike Air Command Force. This Air Max 97 is outfitted in spring-themed pastel hues and comes in women’s sizing only. It makes use of a white, barely volt, and platinum tint color palette. The white mesh, that forms the foundation gives way to overlays of various colors. Barely volt detailing show up on the lateral branding , tongue and on the rear pull tab. This Nike Dunk Low SB is one of three pairs in tribute tribute to the Grateful Dead Bears, a series of stylized dancing bears illustrated by Bob Thomas and served as part of the back cover for the 1973 album History of the Grateful Dead, Volume One.
