2018 CIAA Football Championship makes its return to Salem Football Stadium

The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) announced it will host its 2018 Football Championship game Saturday, November 10 at Salem Stadium located in Salem-Roanoke, VA. The game pits the Conference’s Northernand Southern Division Champions against each other and  is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. EST kickoff. The attendees to the game will have many family friendly activities-  a free Fan Zone including giveaways, interactive events, the Coca-Cola/Food Lion Tailgate Cook Off and appearances from drum lines and cheerleading squads from rival schools. After being outscored 110-35 in their first three games and going winless, the Albany State Golden Rams headed to Lane Field to take on the Lane Dragons needing a win in the worst way. Tennessee State game at Hampton cancelled due to Hurricane Florence

The Tennessee State/Hampton game that was scheduled for September 15 can now be added to the list of sporting events that are postponed or outright canceled because of Hurricane Florence bearing down on the East Coast. This is the second consecutive week the Tigers have had a game canceled due to inclement weather; the Southern Heritage Classic against Jackson State last week was canceled due to lightning. Like that contest, this game will not be rescheduled.

As Hurricane Florence tracks toward the East Coast, it has progressed from a Category 1 storm( 90 mph winds) to a Category 4 ( 130 mph winds )in a span of just thirteen hours.
