NASHVILLE – Travis Harper II scored 23 points, but the Tennessee State men’s basketball team fell to the Southeast Missouri State Redhawks 91-82 at home Saturday. Fourth quarter comeback pushes Lady Tigers past Redhawks 76-72

The Tennessee State Lady Tigers overcame a double-digit fourth quarter deficit to defeat Southeast Missouri State 76-72 and notch their first OVC win of the season.  The Lady Tigers tied the game at 5, 8, 10, 12, and 14, but were unable to get over the hump and trailed 22-21 at the end of the first quarter.  The Lady Tigers continued to work from underneath in the second quarter drawing with a single point on multiple occasions. Travis Terrell Jr enters the transfer portal

Jackson State running back Travis Terrell Jr will enter the transfer portal. He announced his intention via a social media post, describing the decision to enter the portal as “hard” but also a “personal/business decision for my, my family and my future.”  In his freshman season, Terrell ran for 459 yards and 4 touchdowns on 75 carries. Curtis Allen wins the Harlon Hill award

Virginia Union running back Curtis Allen was named the 2025 Harlon Hill Award winner. The Hill award is regarded as the D-II equivalent of the Heisman Trophy and is the most prestigious award at that level.  Allen ran for 2,409 yards and 30 touchdowns and never ran for less than 108 yards in any game on the season, with a high of 369 yards against Bluefield State on 11/1. The Lady Tigers of Tennessee State led for 75.3 percent of the game and built a double-digit lead and seemed to be firmly in control of the game. Despite holding the Skyhawks to 23.5 % shooting (8-34) in the opening half, the Lady Tigers’ seeming inability to defend without fouling led to Martin shooting 22 free throws, connecting on 16.
