Bethune-Cookman has reached an agreement in principle to make NFL Hall of Fame player Ed Reed the University’s 16th head football coach.
The University made the announcement Tuesday evening.
Reed’s name had been mentioned surrounding other head coaching positions dating back to last season when he declined the head coaching job at Grambling State. His previous coaching experience included a year as an assistant defensive backs coach with the Buffalo Bills in 2016.
For the past two years, Reed has been the Chief of Staff, which is an advisory role to head coach Manny Diaz.
Reed replaces Terry Sims, who was let go with a 38-39 reord and was coming off a second consecutive 2-9 season.
