Florida A&M used a big 207-yard showing on the ground to pick up a 28-10 win against Jackson State Sunday afternoon at home at Hard Rock Stadium.

The Rattlers improved to 1-0 on the year and 1-0 in Southwestern Athletic Conference play, while the Tigers fell to 1-1 and 0-1.

Jeremy Moussa led Florida A&M’s passing attack with 150 yards through the air, tossing two touchdowns without throwing an interception.

Terrell Jennings led all FAM rushers with 75 yards in the contest, picking up 6.8 yards per carry. Jaquez Yant also added 72 yards and one touchdown on the ground, averaging 6.5 yards per carry.

Jah’Marae Sheread hauled in five catches for 90 yards and one score.

Allen Smith Jr. led the Florida A&M defensive effort, recording four tackles, one forced fumble, and one recovered fumble. Dakar Edwards added one recovered fumble and Anthony Dunn Jr had four tackles, 2.0 TFL, and two sacks in the win.

The Rattlers won the turnover battle in Sunday’s game, forcing two turnovers while avoiding any giveways, with Florida A&M turning those takeaways into seven points. Florida A&M recorded a strong performance on the ground, gaining 207 rushing yards while averaging 5.2 yards per carry and out-rushing Jackson State by 135 yards. Florida A&M converted on 46.2 percent of third-down attempts on the day.

Florida A&M’s defense held up against Jackson State’s offense, giving up 303 total yards. The FAM defense took up residence in Jackson State’s backfield all game, racking up four sacks and seven total tackles for loss.How It Happened
