Grambling Women’s hoops finishes off season at home against ASU and AAMU

GRAMBLING, La. | The Grambling State University women’s basketball team closes out its regular season home campaign with a pair of Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) games against Alabama State on Thursday and Alabama A&M on Saturday.

Tip-off for Thursday’s game is set for 5:30 p.m.at the Fredrick C. Hobdy Assembly Center as Grambling State will hold Faculty and Staff Appreciation Night. On Saturday, Grambling State will hold Senior Day, as tip-off against the Lady Bulldogs is scheduled for 3 p.m.

Grambling State (13-15 overall, 10-6 SWAC) currently sits in a four-way tie for third in the conference standings after Monday’s loss to Mississippi Valley State. GSU is tied with Jackson State, Texas Southern and Alabama State. JSU holds the tiebreaker over Grambling State, while the Lady Tigers swept the season series over Texas Southern. Grambling State holds the edge over Alabama State, but a win on Thursday will give the Lady Tigers the tiebreaker.

Alabama State (11-16, 10-6) comes into Thursday night’s tilt having lost two out of its last three games. However, the Lady Hornets are coming off a 67-59 road win against Prairie View A&M on Monday.

Alabama A&M (13-14, 8-8) enters the weekend having lost three out of its last four games. The Lady Bulldogs dropped a pair against Texas Southern and Prairie View A&M. Alabama A&M will visit Jackson State on Thursday, before making the trip to Grambling State on Saturday.
