Grambling’s James earns consecutive SWAC Offensive Player of the Week

 Grambling State University sophomore outside hitter Jayden James earned her second consecutive Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week honor, the conference announced on Wednesday.

James received SWAC accolades after a stellar week in four Grambling State matches. She was selected to the UNA Volleyball Classic All-Tournament Team after her phenomenal three-match performance against North Alabama, New Orleans and Lamar. She registered 50 kills, 33 digs, two block assists and one service ace.

Florida A&M’s Brook Hudson was named the SWAC Defensive Player of the Week, while teammate Brooke Hudson garnered Setter and Newcomer of the Week.

Grambling State returns to action with three matches in the Blue Raider Invitational, hosted by Middle Tennessee State. The Lady Tigers open play on Friday with an 11 a.m. match against host Middle Tennessee State, followed by a 4 p.m. match against UT-Martin to wrap up Day 1 of the Invitational. GSU concludes play against Belmont at 11 a.m. on Saturday. All matches will be streamed live on CUSA TV.
