The 2022 NCAA Division II Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championship brackets were announced today with one men’s team and one women’s team from the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) among the 64 teams in each field. Lincoln University will represent the conference in the women’s bracket while Fayetteville State will be the lone representative from the CIAA on the men’s side.
Both teams earned the league’s automatic bid after winning the conference tournament titles in February.
Winning their first CIAA title in school history, the Lincoln women enter the national tournament as the No. 8 seed in the Atlantic Region. The Lions will take on the region’s no. 1 seed Glenville State at a time to be announced.
The Atlantic Region tournament will be hosted by Glenville State University with the first round set to tip off Friday, March 11. Round of 32 and Sweet 16 games will take place March 12 and 14, respectively. The eight regional champions advancing to the Women’s Elite Eight will be seeded by the Women’s Basketball Committee after completion of the regionals. The 2022 NCAA Division II Women’s Elite Eight will be held at the Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham, Alabama, March 21, 23 and 25. Miles College and the City of Birmingham will serve as hosts.

The Broncos earned their bid after winning their first men’s conference title since 1973. Like Lincoln on the women’s side, FSU also enters the men’s field as the no. 8 seed and will take on top seed Indiana University of Pennsylvania at a time to be determined.
IUP will serve as the host for the Atlantic Region as the opening round tips off on Saturday, March 12. The round of 32 will take place on March 13 followed by the Sweet 16 on March 15. The eight regional champions will advance to the quarterfinals in conjunction with the 2022 NCAA Division II Men’s Elite Eight. The quarterfinal, semifinal and championship games will be conducted at the Ford Center in Evansville, Indiana, March 22, 24 and 26.
