BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Morehouse capitalized on turnovers to upset Tuskegee 31-15 on Saturday at Legion Field in the 85th Annual Tuskegee-Morehouse Classic.
MHC (1-5, 1-1 SIAC) picked up its first win of the season while holdng TU (2-3, 1-1 SIAC) to 65 rushing yards (1.9 avg.)
Earnest Davis led all players with 106 rushing yards on 30 attempts with two touchdowns. Quarterback Michael Sims passed for 138 yards and one touchdown connecting 13-of-24 pass attempts. Sims also recorded a score on the ground when he ran for a 4-yard touchdown to give the Maroon Tigers a 7-2 lead in the first quarter.
Daniel Norman spearheaded the defense with 10 tackles (7 solo) with two sacks. Zach Beckton added a pair of sacks and six tackles. Darie Pittman hauled in an interception to support the defensive effort.
The Maroon Tigers had the lead 17-9 going into the final quarter of the game.
With 11:18 left in the game, the Golden Tigers tried to ignite a comeback. Louis Williams found Jamaal Pritchett for the 54-yard score. However, the Maroon Tigers extended their lead. With 7:29 to go in the game, Sims fond Kory Fleming for the 11-yard touchdown.
Williams finished with 166 yards passing with two touchdowns completing 7-of-14 pass attempts.
Woodly Applon led TU with 16 tackles (6 solo). Jeremy Dees registered a sack.
