The Southwestern Athletic Conference has named Prairie View A&M’s Trazon Connley, Jackson State’s Aubrey Miller Jr. and Sy’Veon Wilkerson along with Texas Southern’s Chaunzavia Lewis its SWAC Football Players of the Week for their exceptional performances during games played this past weekend. 

Offense- Trazon Connely| Quarterback| Prairie View A&M


In a non-conference matchup Connley led the Panthers to a 54-21 win over Lamar. He scored a career best three rushing touchdowns to go along with two passing touchdowns. He went 15-21 throwing for 179 yards while rushing for 119 yards averaging 9.9 yards per carry.

Defense, Aubrey Miller| Linebacker| Jackson State

During a 22-14 non-conference win over Campbell which drew a national spotlight, Miller was at the center of Jackson State’s stout defense with 13 solo tackles. Seven of the stops limited the Camels to three or fewer yards, including a six-yard sack and another tackle for loss.

Specialist| Chaunzavia Lewis| Running Back | Texas Southern

Lewis contributed a key punt return for a TD (73 yards) which helped turn the tide of the game for Texas Southern in the 3rd quarter of the Tigers game versus Alcorn State on Saturday. He tallied 122 punt return yards while tallying 92 yards on four kickoff returns.

Newcomer| Sy’Veon Wilkerson| Running Back| Jackson State

Wilkerson had his second 100-yard rushing game of the season with a season-high 24 carries for 116 yards and one touchdown. He rushed the ball five times for 45 yards during the Tigers game-clinching TD drive, capped off by his four-yard scoring run with just over three minutes to play to seal the win.
