Emanuel Wilson (Fort Valley State) was named Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC)Football Offensive Player of the Week, while Vincent Hill (Tuskegee) earned Defensive Player of the Week, released by the league office on Monday.
Tayven Grice (Benedict) was also tabbed Special Teams Player of the Week alongside Antonio Meeks (Tuskegee) who earned Newcomer of the Week.
OFFENSIVE – Emanuel Wilson, Fort Valley State |Running Back | R-Junior | Charlotte, N.C.
Wilson helped the Wildcats to its seventh win in a season for the 1st time since 2012. The junior running back had 17 carries for 163 yds and three touchdowns, making him the first running back for FVSU Wildcat to reach over 1,000-yards in a season since 2004. He pulled in three passes for 31 yards for 194 all-purpose yards.
DEFENSIVE – Vincent Hill, Tuskegee|Linebacker | Freshman | Fairburn, GA
Hill recorded 11 total tackles in his return after missing last week for the Golden Tigers, with nine solo stops and two assisted as well as a pair of tackles for loss in the 35-31 win against Lane.
SPECIAL TEAMS – Tayven Grice, Benedict| Wide Receiver | Sophomore | Lake Charles, LA
Grice opened the second half with a 90-yard kickoff return for a touchdown in Benedict’s 35-0 victory over Morehouse. Grice also had three receptions for 16 yards.
NEWCOMER – Antonio Meeks, Tuskegee| Wide Receiver | Freshman | Lilburn, GA
Meeks, a freshman receiver, had his best day as a Golden Tiger so far, finishing the game with season-highs of six receptions and 141 yards for two scores. The receiver also led all pass catchers for Tuskegee with a game-high 58 yard catch in the win in Memphis.
