Report: Miami Expected to Move On From Antetokounmpo Brothers

The brief “Antetokounmpo era” beyond Giannis may already be coming to an end in Miami.

According to ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne, the Miami Heat are not expected to continue carrying Giannis Antetokounmpo’s brothers on the roster as the franchise shifts its focus toward maximizing every available roster spot.

“There won’t be anymore Antetokounmpo brothers in Miami. That whole ‘we have Kostas and Thanasis on the team,’ I don’t think that’s going to continue from what I understand,” Shelburne said.

The comments suggest Miami is moving away from a strategy that had become synonymous with Giannis’ time in Milwaukee, where Thanasis Antetokounmpo spent multiple seasons alongside his younger brother. Kostas Antetokounmpo also briefly joined the Heat after Giannis’ blockbuster arrival, fueling speculation that Miami could continue employing members of the Antetokounmpo family.

Instead, the Heat appear intent on using every roster position to strengthen a championship contender around Giannis and Bam Adebayo. With the Eastern Conference expected to remain highly competitive, roster flexibility and depth could prove more valuable than maintaining family ties within the organization.

While there has been no official announcement from the Heat regarding the futures of Thanasis or Kostas Antetokounmpo, Shelburne’s report indicates the franchise is expected to move in a different direction.

If the report proves accurate, it marks the end of a unique chapter in the Antetokounmpo family’s NBA journey and underscores Miami’s commitment to building the strongest roster possible around its superstar centerpiece.
