Jadon Adams (Savannah State) was named Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Football Offensive Player of the Week, while Loobert Denelus (Benedict) earned Defensive Player of the Week, released by the league office on Monday.
Rodney Williams Jr. (Fort Valley State) was also tabbed Special Teams Player of the Week alongside Adeon Farmer (Fort Valley State) who earned Newcomer of the Week.
OFFENSIVE – Jadon Adams, Savannah State | Quarterback | R-Freshman | Savannah, Ga.
Jadon Adams came off the bench in the second quarter for Savannah State to help lead the Tigers to a 31-28 victory over Edward Waters. Adams connected on 4-of-8 passes for 61 yards and two touchdowns. He rushed eight times for 29 yards and helped the Tigers to 339 total offensive yards.
DEFENSIVE – Loobert Denelus, Benedict|Defensive Tackle | Junior | Naples, Fla.
Junior defensive lineman, Loobert Denelus, anchored Benedict’s defensive line that held Lane Dragons to just 92 total yards and forced six Lane fumbles and two interceptions. Denelus registered three tackles, one tackle for loss, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery for Benedict’s first touchdown in a 14-0 victory.
SPECIAL TEAMS – Rodney Williams Jr., Fort Valley State|Kicker/Punter | Freshman | Covington, GA
Williams kicked a 28-yard field goal with 11:32 in the third quarter which turned out to be the game-winning points for Fort Valley State over Kentucky State, 9-7. He punted three times for 112 yards and averaged 37.3 per punt with his longest being 43 yards.
NEWCOMER – Adeon Farmer, Fort Valley State | Defensive End | Freshman | Lake City, Fla.
Farmer went from three tackles in Week 1 to 10 in his second collegiate game in helping Fort Valley limit the KSU offense to 170 yards of total offense on 47 plays. Farmer posted 10 tackles and one tackle for loss in the second Fort Valley State defensive effort to hold its foes to only 1 score in the game.
