Week 9: Football Players of the Week

ATLANTA, Ga. (November 1, 2021) – Eric Phoenix (Benedict) was named Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Football Offensive Player of the Week, while N’Ktavious Floyd (Miles) earned Defensive Player of the Week, released by the league office on Monday.

Rigoberto Tinoco (Benedict) was also tabbed Special Teams Player of the Week alongside, Jamal Holloway (Central State) who earned Newcomer of the Week.

OFFENSIVE – Eric Phoenix, Benedict , Quarterback  |  6’3  |  Sophomore  |  Savannah, Ga.

Phoenix completed 27-of-34 passes for 280 yards and 3 TDs against Clark Atlanta in a 24-21 victory. The Savannah, Ga. native had one interception, and was not sacked. On the game-winning drive, he completed 4-of-6 passes and rushed twice for 17 yards.


DEFENSIVE – N’Ktavious Floyd, Miles , Linebacker | 5’11  | Senior  |  Phenix City, AL

Floyd had 10 tackles (eight solo), two tackles for loss and a sack as Miles defeated Edward Waters.

SPECIAL TEAMS – Rigoberto Tinoco, Benedict, Kicker |  5’8  |  Senior  |  Lyons, Ga.

Tinoco kicked the game-winning 17-yard field goal with no time on the clock as Benedict defeated Clark Atlanta 24-21. He was also perfect on three PAT kicks.

NEWCOMER –  Jamal Holloway, Central State , Defensive End |  6’3  |  Senior  |  Camden, NJ

Central State senior Jamal Holloway stood out on the defensive side of the ball last Saturday against the SIAC’s top ranked offense in Lane College. Holloway had 15 tackles, 3 tackles for a loss, 1 sack, 1 forced fumble and a blocked extra point on Saturday. Holloway has 72 total tackles, 18 tackles for a loss, 7.5 sacks, and 4 forced fumbles this season.
