The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) has released its 2022 Baseball Preseason Teams as voted on by the league’s head coaches and sports information directors.

High expectations are on the horizon for the Spring Hill Badgers leading all teams with seven preseason selections. Spring Hill is looking to repeat their SIAC Championship title from 2019 after a two-year hiatus due to COVID-19.

The 2022 SIAC Baseball Preseason First team is heavily decorated with players from Miles College as well. Two of the four players from Miles College (Will Cantey & Jacob Bisharat) are making a return from the SIAC All-Conference Team in 2019.

In 2019, Miles College first baseman, Jacob Bisharat, had a batting average of a .358, to add to his with six home runs and 46 RBIs. Miles College’s pitcher, Will Cantey, had an ERA of 1.48 in 24 innings pitched, and a 3-3 record. Both players earned First Team All-Conference honors in 2019 and are expected to make an impact for the Golden Bears this season.

Kentucky State had three Preseason All-Conference selections of their own, including starting pitcher Brady Bibbs, who is returning from the 2019 Baseball All-Conference teams. Bibbs pitched a total of 64 innings in 2019 and tallied an 8-1 record.

Clark Atlanta and Benedict each had two selections to this year’s preseason teams. Bradon O’Connor of Benedict College returns from the 2019 Baseball All-Conference team where he batted a .404 average, along with 30 RBIs, with an on base percentage of .541.

Tuskegee, Lane, Albany State, and Savannah State rounded out this year’s preseason team with one selection each.

The 2022 season opens up this week with a full slate of non-conference games.
