PINE BLUFF, Ark, – Southern will face Arkansas-Pine Bluff for its first Southwestern Athletic Conference game for the 2019 campaign on Saturday at Simmons Bank Field. The game is scheduled for a national broadcast on ESPN3 with kickoff slated for 6:00 p.m.
With the score tied in the fourth quarter, Arkansas-Pine Bluff drove 75 yards in seven plays in the final 50 seconds for a victory over Tennessee State last week. Azende Rey’s pass to Kamari Young made good on the two-point conversion. Florida A&M’s defense held firm on the ensuing Southern drive, sacking Southern QB Ladarius Skelton to help seal the win.
Skelton finished with 114 yards and a score for the Jaguars. Jamar Washington led the Jaguars with 109 yards off five receptions. Washington raced for 54 yards for a score off an 8-yard reception from Skelton.
