The Southwestern Athletic Conference is making changes to its Week Six football schedule as the conference prepares for the potential impact of adverse weather conditions in Alabama.
The biggest change affects the highly anticipated matchup between Florida A&M and Alabama State, which has been moved up one day.
FAMU–Alabama State Moved to Friday
The game was originally scheduled for Saturday, October 10, but will now be played Friday, October 9 at 11:00 a.m. CT.
The matchup will be streamed live on SWAC TV.
That means fans expecting to watch the Rattlers and Hornets on Saturday will need to adjust their plans. The schedule change was made because of the potential for adverse weather conditions across the Alabama area.
Southern–Prairie View Remains on Saturday
The conference also announced a broadcast change involving Southern and Prairie View A&M.
That matchup will remain on Saturday, October 10, with kickoff scheduled for 3:00 p.m. CT.
However, the game will now be broadcast live on HBCU GO rather than SWAC TV.
Updated SWAC Football Schedule

The conference said it will continue monitoring weather conditions and could make additional schedule adjustments if necessary.
What HBCU Football Fans Need to Know
The changes are especially significant for fans planning to attend or watch the games because the FAMU–Alabama State matchup has been moved to a Friday morning kickoff.
The game was previously part of Saturday’s Week Six schedule, which also includes several other SWAC contests.
For FAMU and Alabama State fans, the message is simple:
Don’t wait until Saturday. The Rattlers and Hornets are playing Friday morning.
And for Southern and Prairie View A&M fans, the game is still on Saturday—but the viewing destination has changed to HBCU GO.
