Albany State’s women basketball signs first for ‘19-20 class

Fason, a 5-foot-11 forward for Cherokee Trail High School in Aurora, Colorado, is averaging 5.0 points and 5.3 rebounds so far in her senior campaign. Albany State ends losing streak with 79-72 win over LeMoyne-Owen

The Albany State Golden Rams Men’s Basketball team returned to post-holiday action by defeating LeMoyne-Owen 79-72. Up until approximately midway point of the first half, the game was a back and forth affair with both teams taking turns leading, with neither team getting out by no more than two points. The Golden Rams opened the game with a 22-6 advantage and led by as many as 16 points during the first half. Albany State won its seventh consecutive game and completed SIAC Eastern Division confefence play with an unblemished 6-0 record with a dominating 40-6 victory in the 29th Annual Fountain City Classic. The Golden Rams went up 6-0 in the early going with two Gabriel Ballinas field goals from 33 and 41. Johnson Stadium. It is ASU’s first shutout since their 38-0 Homecoming win over Morehouse in 2015. Returning to the confines of historic Hugh Mills Stadium for the first time in over ten years, Albany State won its fifth game in row by rolling over Clark-Atlanta 36-3 in ASU’s homecoming game. Albany State’s quarterback Kelias Williams had a career day. He completed 16 of 18 passes  for a career high 254 yards and three touchdowns as the Golden Rams defeated Morehouse 41-19, giving the Marron Tigers their first loss of the season. Albany State took a 3-0 lead on Gabriel Ballinas’ 47-yard field goal with 2:47 left in the first quarter. Morehouse v Albany State pushed back to Sunday due to Hurricane Micheal

Morehouse’s (6-0, 2-0 SIAC) athletics department announced earlier today that its SIAC eastern division opening game versus Albany State(3-3, 2-0 SIAC) that was originally scheduled for Saturday, October 13 has been pushed back to Sunday, October 14 because of the damage in Albany caused by Hurricane Michael. Kickoff will now be at 1:00 p.m. EST at B.T. Harvey Stadium on Morehouse’s campus. The contest will also be streamed live on FloSports, with the pregame starting at 12:45.

Albany State defeats Catawba College 35-21

The Albany State offense racked up 500 yards of total offense on their way to squaring their record at 3-3 by defeating Catawba College 35-21 at Shuford Stadium in Salisbury, North Carolina. The Golden Rams offense came out of the gate razor sharp, scoring on their first two possessions.
