Cleveland Cavaliers’ offeseason proves winning does not cure all ails

The Cleveland Cavaliers are quite the oddity.  Although they have been to three straight NBA Finals, winning one in 2016, (and with the current state of the Eastern Conference, they are in a prime position to make additional runs to at least the East Finals) the Cavaliers find themselves in what was termed "a peculiar place."  Since losing the second of their three NBA Finals matchups with the Golden State Warriors, the Cavaliers' offseason has been undergirded with disfunction. It began with allowing David Griffin, their General Manager who constructed…

Game 6: We’re Going Back to Cali

After the beat downs of the Cavaliers served up by Golden State in the first two games of the finals, Cleveland looked like they had no business on the court with Warriors. Game 2 was particularly troubling because I’d never, in all my years of watching the NBA Finals, see a time check out in a finals game. After a comeback in game 4, to give them a commanding 3-1 lead heading back to the friendly confines of Oracle Arena, game 5 was thought to be a prelude to a…

Game 5: Not So Fast Warriors!

The story surrounding game 5 was the suspension of Draymond Green and how his absence would impact both ballclubs. The other questions were would this, along with being at home in a potential series clinching game, put an extra chip on the Warriors’ shoulder and would the Cavaliers come out aggressively as they had in game and would they avoid the costly mistakes that cost them the previous contest? Through the first half, this was by far the most competitive and entertaining game of series. It was more in line…

Warriors’ Green suspended for Game 5

When the NBA Finals reconvenes Monday, Draymond Green and I will have the same vantage point for taking in the action- in front of the television. That is because the Warriors’ power forward was suspended after being hit with a flagrant-1 for his actions in Game 4. This gave him his 4th flagrant foul point of the post season, which brings an automatic one game suspension.  Late in game 4, Green and Lebron James got tangled up and Green fell down. James stepped over him and it appears Green swung…

Game 3 2016 NBA Finals: Amazing What Happens When You Put Forth a Little Effort

After not only dropping both games at Oracle, in particularly embarrassing fashion game 2, I wondered how the Cavaliers would respond by returning home for game 3. The Cavaliers took control from the tip off the strength of a dominant first quarter and never looked back. Kyrie Irving finally made his first appearance in the series, he opened up with 16 in the opening quarter en route to a 30 point evening. Lebron James came out in attack mode and finished up with 32 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists.…
