Moton’s late game bucket lifts Grambling 68-66 over Bethune-Cookman

From Grambling State Athletic Communications Tra’Michael Moton drained a jumper with one second remaining as the Grambling State University men’s basketball team edged Bethune-Cookman, 68-66, on Saturday afternoon in a Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) game at the Moore Gymnasium.   Grambling State (4-11 overall, 2-1 SWAC) led by as many as 11 points with 2:20 remaining, but Bethune-Cookman rallied and tied the game at 66 after a pair of free throws by Joe French with 23 seconds left.  That set the stage for Moton, who hit the game-winner jumper with 1 second left…

From the Southwestern Athletic Conference: The men’s basketball game scheduled between Prairie View A&M and Grambling State slated to be played on Monday, January 3 has been canceled due to COVID-19 protocols with the PVAMU program. The men’s basketball game scheduled between Alcorn State and Jackson State slated to be played on Monday, January 3 has been rescheduled for Wednesday, January 5. These actions follow the guidelines and protocols set forth by the league and its Sports Administrators Committee and COVID-19 Advisory Committee.

There were three games scheduled for Wednesday’s Southwestern Athletic Conference women’s hoops action , but only one actually got take the court, with the Alabama A&M /Nicholls State and Alcorn State’s matchup with Texas both being cancelled due to the perniciousness of COVID-19.
