Three HBCUs get votes in the Stats Perform FCS Preseason Top 25 Poll

The Stats Performed FCS Preseason Top 25 Poll was released and three HBCUs- Florida A&M, North Carolina Central, and Alabama State all received votes.  Last season the Rattlers of Florida A&M 12-1 (8-0) as the SWAC and the Celebration Bowl champions. They ended the 2023 campaign ranked 11th in the Stats Perform FCS Top 25 poll. FAMU received 65 votes in the preseason poll, placing the Rattlers 30th. Sixteen Spartans named to Phil Steele FCS Preseason All-MEAC Teams

Davius Richard agrees to terms with UFL’s Houston Roughnecks

Former North Carolina Central quarterback Davius Richard has taken the first step in his professional career, agreeing to terms on a deal with the Houston Roughnecks, according to Kyle T. Mosley of HBCU Legends.  Richard seemed to be on the path to the NFL but that was derailed when he suffered a dislocated right ankle in the HBCU Legacy Bowl.  Richard, a back-to-back MEAC Player of the Year, completed a collegiate career in which he threw for 8,991 yards and 73. touchdowns, while adding another 2026 yards and 44 touchdowns…
