Tuesday night Portland Trail Blazers head coach Terry Stots let reporters know that the recently waived Pau Gasol would join the coaching staff after he returns from Spain. Gasol, 39, was waived November 20 to focus more on recovery from the foot surgery he had back in May. Free agent Pau Gasol has agreed to a one-year deal with the Portland Trail Blazers, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. Gasol began last season with the Spurs before being bought out. He signed with the Bucks but only appeared in three games before suffering a stress fracture in his left foot, ending his season. Gasol will bring experience and championship pedigree to an already solid big man lineup that includes Zach Collins, Hassan Whiteside, and (eventually) Jusef Nurkic.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the San Antonio Spurs and center Pau Gasol have agreed on a buyout. Gasol is eligible for the playoffs for his next team. Injuries have limited the former All-Star to just 27 games this year,and only 6 starts. Gasol is averaging just 4.2 points and 4.7 rebounds in only 12.2 minutes per game. If healthy, he can be beneficial to a playoff team with his scoring and passing ability.
