SIAC Basketball Men’s and Women’s Basketballers of the Week

Albany State swept in basketball doubleheader

Courtesy Dr. Earnest Brown , ASU Athletics The Albany State Golden Rams were swept by the Clark-Atlanta Panthers on Monday at the ASU East Campus.   In the women’s game, the Panthers won 62-61.  The Panthers jumped out to a 20-14 lead at the end of the 1st quarter.  But, the Golden Rams outscored the Panthers 18-6 in the 2nd quarter.  At the half, the Golden Rams led 32-26. Courtesy of Benedict Athletics COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Benedict College Tigers drained 13 3-pointers, led by Brandon Smith’s season-high six 3-pointers, and the Tigers defeated Clark Atlanta University 96-78 on Monday night in the Benjamin E. The Albany State University Men’s basketball team ( 7-14, 5-7) suffered a tough loss to the Cougars of Columbus State University ( 14-6, 5-5) Monday evening. The Golden Rams were up 36-34 at the end of the first half and would continue to hold the advantage in the second half, pushing the lead to 17 points at 55-38 when Maxwell Harris sank a pair of free throws with 13:46 to go in the contest.
