Albany State Volleyball releases 2024 schedule

The season includes twenty-seven (27) matches, comprised of eight (8) home matches and three tournaments. Veteran Head Coach, Verneice Graham, will lead her team as they kick off the season with a match against Middle Georgia State University on September 3rd inside HPER Complex. Courtesy of the SIAC Class of 2024 SIAC Hall of Fame inductee and former NFL receiver Jacoby Jones passed away in his sleep in his Houston home. He was 40. The day before his fortieth birthday on July 11, Jones joined the SIAC in Atlanta to celebrate his induction into the SIAC Hall of Fame. Jones was a pivotal part of the Lane College football team from 2003 to 2006, where he was named offensive player of the year, special teams player of the year and all-conference. Allen University’s Beau Harrington and Terrance Harrington named to All-SIAC Preseason Team

Courtesy of Allen Athletics Among the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference’s Preseason All-SIAC selections, senior running back Beau Herrington and senior offensive lineman Terrence Jarrett each were named to the Preseason All-SIAC Second Team Tuesday morning. Additionally, Allen was voted 11th in the SIAC’s predicted order of finish for the 2024 season.  Herrington, who is entering his fourth season as the primary running back for the Yellow Jackets, is coming-off a 2023 campaign that saw him lead Allen with 640 rushing yards and 10 rushing touchdowns on 147 rushing attempts. A pair of Golden Rams will take part in HBCU All-Star Dream Classic

title image via Albany State Athletics Albany State guard Reggie James and forward Jordan Simpson were selected to take part in the HBCU All-Star Dream Classic.  James, a 6’4” senior guard out of Trenton, NJ appeared in 20 games, 5 starts, and averaged 5.3 points and 2.8 rebounds in 20.2 minutes per contest. His season-high 13 points came in a 67-65 win over Edward Waters on January 13.  Simpson was the Golden Rams’ leading rebounder, pulling down 10.9 boards per contest, with a season-best 17 coming in 79-77 nail iter…

Allen University XC receives team award, more than 6 dozen athletes earned Conference All-Academic Honours

Courtesy of the SIAC  The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference recognized 1,127 student-athletes for their academic excellence Wednesday, including 76 student-athletes from Allen University. Among the highlights, Allen’s Women’s Cross Country team was awarded the SIAC’s Team Award for posting a 3.37 cumulative grade point average as a team, the highest among their SIAC foes.  The SIAC Commissioner’s All-Academic Team features student-athletes who earned a 3.2 or better cumulative grade point average for the past academic year.
