Southern TE Ethan Howard enters the transfer portal

Southern University sophomore tight end Ethan Howard announced he was entering the transfer portal. The Cecilia High School ( Breaux Bridge, LA) product informed the world of his decision Monday in post to his Twitter account. Last season Howard was Southern’s second-leading leading receiver, hailing in 29 passes for 351 yards and four touchdowns. This past season, for unknown reasons, he only appeared in one contest, the October 22 matchup against Virginia Lynchburg.

Jackson State’s Jason Mercier declares for NFL Draft

Jason Mercier is the latest Jackson State footballer to either enter the transfer portal or declare for the NFL draft. The senior defensive line announced Sunday evening that he will now seek to make his NFL dreams a reality. This season, the Florida International transfer recorded 21 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, 2.0 sacks and a fumble recovery, as part of a defensive unit that, up until the Celebration Bowl, had not surrendered more than 24 points in any game this season. Sanders set single-season school records for touchdown passes (36) and completions (314) while throwing for 3,409 yards and rushing for a career-high five touchdowns. Kemari Averett earned BOXTOROW HBCU All-American honours

Courtesy of Bryce Hoynof , Bethune-Cookman Athletics Bethune-Cookman’s Kemari Averett has been named a 2022 BOXTOROW HBCU All-American, it was announced Monday.  Return man Darnell Deas was named an honorable mention. A graduate student tight end from Atlanta, Ga., Averett caught 39 passes for 445 and seven touchdowns, the third highest total in the SWAC this season. Bethune-Cookman Tight End Kemari Averett declares fir NFL Draft

Bethune-Cookman tight end Kemari Averett is seeking to ply his trade at the next level. The Atlanta, GA native made the announcement Wednesday afternoon in a social media post in which he expressed his gratitude to the university, teammates and coaches. Prior to coming to Bethune-Cookman, Averett spent two seasons at the University of Louisville, where he caught 15 passes for 144 yards and three touchdowns.
