Despite leading for the majority of the game, the Southern Jaguars could not do enough to stave off the comeback attempt of McNeese State and ultimately fell to the Cowboys, 31-24. Jackson State quarterback Shadeur Sanders was named Stats Perform FCS National Player of the Week. Sanders was outstanding in JSU’s 38-16 rump -kicking of Tennessee State in the Southern Heritage Classic, completing 30 of his 40 pass attempts for 362 yards and three touchdowns. His 30 completions set a SHC record. The Tigers of Jackson State head to Monroe, Louisiana to take on Louisiana-Monroe this Saturday night in another nationally televised game on ESPN3.
