Twelve Tennessee State athletes receive OVC Medal of Honor

A dozen Tennessee State student athletes earned the 2024-25 Ohio Valley Conference Academic Medal of Honor. Every year the Academic Medal of Honor is bestowed upon student athletes who achieve the highest GPA in a conference-sponsored sport.  The Tennis program has five recipients, with Jonasz Dziopak, Taj Hibbert, Francisca Gomez Weiss coming from the men’s team and Jovana Nikolic, and Natalie Walsh representing the women’s team.  Football players Blake Gamez, Kyle Hicks, and Connor Ruth made the list; Aden Napier, Sampo Stahl, and Trixie Sabulao come from the mens and women’s tennis ranks, respectively. Fisk appoints Valencia Jordan Director of Athletics

Jordan, who played volleyball at the university in 1981-82, will take over immediately at the North Nashville HBCU university. “Being an AD is a dream come true for me,” said Jordan. “Coming full circle to Fisk is an honor.
