Tennessee State defensive back Darius Harper was named Ohio Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Week.
The senior had his fingerprints all over the Tigers’ 22-14 win over Texas A&M Commerce. What he accomplished in just the first half alone, would have been enough to garner Harper the weekly DPOY honours. Harper had an interception on the first play from scrimmage, which he returned 28 yards for a touchdown. His 20-yard run after a fumble recovery in the second quarter positioned the TSU offense for a subsequent touchdown. His second interception resulted in a 45-yard runback that paved the way for another Tiger score that put them up 19-7 at the half.
Harper also recorded 5 tackles, 4 solo, and a pass breakup.
