UCONN’s Paige Bueckers blows out knee, will miss entire season

Paige Bueckers is the most exciting and likely the best players and unfortunately for her UConn and even fans of college basketball she missed 19 games last season due to a a tibial plateau fracture and lateral meniscus tear. Now in a cruel twist of fate it appears the injury clock for Bueckers will keep on ticking away. Wednesday afternoon news emerged and Bueckers had torn her ACL effectively sidelining her for the entirety of the 20 2223 basketball season.

Bueckers suffered the injury Monday during a pickup game to the same surgically repaired knee that cost her the missed time last season.

UCONN head coach Geno Auriemma issued the following statement:

“We’re all devastated for Paige. She’s worked really hard to get stronger and healthier this offseason, and this is an unfortunate setback. Paige is obviously an amazing basketball player but she’s a better person and teammate and it’s really unfortunate that this has happened to her. We’ll miss her presence on the court, but she’ll do everything she can to still lead and help her teammates this season. Our program will support Paige through her healing process to help her come back better and stronger.”

The injured college basketball superstar disseminated a statement of her own on Instagram, as she already seems laser-focused on making her way back to being the player she was.

Bueckers is scheduled to undergo surgery Friday at UCONN Health Hospital.
