San Antonio Spurs took a 2-1 series lead over the Minnesota Timberwolves with a 115-108 Game 3 win Friday night in Minneapolis.
Victor Wembanyama delivered a superstar performance, finishing with 39 points, 15 rebounds, and five blocks while dominating the fourth quarter. Wembanyama scored 16 points in the final frame, including a clutch turnaround jumper and a dagger three-pointer that helped seal the victory for San Antonio.
The Spurs jumped out to an early 15-point lead as Minnesota missed its first 12 shots, but the Timberwolves battled back behind Anthony Edwards, who posted 32 points, 14 rebounds, and six assists. Minnesota erased the deficit and entered halftime tied after late buckets from Edwards and Jaden McDaniels.
San Antonio regained control in the second half with strong play from De’Aaron Fox and rookie Stephon Castle, who added a double-double with 13 points and 12 assists. The Spurs’ defense tightened late, forcing difficult shots and controlling the glass during winning time.
Minnesota got additional scoring from Naz Reid and McDaniels, but inconsistent offense and missed opportunities down the stretch prevented the Wolves from reclaiming momentum.
Game 4 is set for Sunday in Minneapolis, where the Timberwolves will try to even the series before it shifts back to San Antonio.
