17 January 2023 SWAC Women’s Basketball Players of the Week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- The Southwestern Athletic Conference has tabbed Texas Southern’s Andriana Avent and Florida A&M’s Dylan Horton for SWAC Women’s Basketball Weekly Honors for their outstanding performances during this past week of conference play.


Player of the Week- Andriana Avent | Guard | Texas Southern University


Avent was a key contributor for the Texas Southern Lady Tigers this past week. She averaged a league leading 21.0 points per game while shooting 38 percent from beyond the arc. She shot an impressive 86 percent from the free throw line. Avent also contributed 3.0 rebounds per game and 2.0 steals per game during this past week of competition.    

Impact Player of the Week – Dylan Horton | Guard| Senior | FAMU


Horton averaged 20.0 points per game, 3.5 rebounds per game and 3.5 assists per game across two league contests for Florida A&M this past week. She shot 50.0 percent from the field against Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Mississippi Valley State, respectively. Horton poured in a game-high 21 points against Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Saturday. She followed that performance with a game-high 19 points during a 69-53 Rattlers’ win over MVSU on Monday.
