Alcorn beats Mississippi Valley like they stole something, 86-39

Police in Lorman, MS, will need to speak with the crowd at the Davey L. Whitney Health & Physical Education Complex, as Monday night they were witness to a massacre. The Alcorn State Braves annihilated Mississippi Valley State 86-39.

Alcorn started the onslaught right from the onset, jumping out to a 13-0 lead before Donovan Sanders’ three-pointer finally put the Delta Devils on the board at the 14:23 mark. MVSU did not crack double figures until 7:48 remaining when Jair Horton connected from downtown, making the score 27-11. That was as close as the Delta Devils would draw for the remainder of the half.

Valley shot just 4–22 in the first half and committed 11 turnovers, as by the time the first half ended, Alcorn was up 44-16.

The second half was extended garbage time, as the Braves built as much as a 52-point lead at 86-34, with Valley never threatening to make the game remotely competitive.

Jalyke Gaines-Wyatt paced four Alcorn State players in double figures with 14 points. Daniel Braster and Michael Pajeaud scored 13 points apiece, while Marcus Tankersley chipped in with 11 points.

Donovan Sanders was the only MVSU player to reach double figures, leading the Delta Devils with 10 points.

Alcorn (7-16, 7-4) is now the winner of three straight. The Braves return to action when they head to Daytona Beach to take on Bethune-Cookman. Tip-off is scheduled for 4 pm EST.

Mississippi Valley State (3-21, 1-10) will take on Alabama A&M on Saturday, with the tip set for 6 pm CST.
