Albany State Basketball splits homecoming matchup with Fort Valley State

The Albany State Golden Rams men and women’s basketball teams split with the Fort Valley State University Wildcats in front of over 5,000 fans at The Jones Brother Health, Physical Education and Recreation Complex for the Basketball Homecoming Games on the ASU East Campus. 
 
In game 1, the women defeated the Wildcats (48-44).  With the win, the Golden Rams improved to (7-16) overall and more importantly, (5-12) in the SIAC.  The Wildcats fell to (5-15) overall and (5-12) in the conference.
 
The Golden Rams had 2 players to score in double figures.  Milana Holmes led the Golden Rams with 13 points and 6 rebounds.  Hayleigh Ross scored 12 points and grabbed 5 rebounds.  Leading scorer Kashay Hankerson finished with 6 points.
 
Tori Myers led the Wildcats with 14 points and 6 rebounds.  Amiya Allen contributed with 11 points while Diamond Jones finished with 10 points and 6 rebounds.
 
In the men’s game, the Fort Valley State Wildcats defeated Albany State (66-56).  With the loss, the Golden Rams fell to (7-18) overall and (7-12) in the SIAC.  The Wildcats improved to (11-15) overall and (9-10) in the conference.
 
Maurice Dickson led the Golden Rams with 14 points and 6 rebounds while Maxwell Harrisfinished with 10 points.  Malik Parker, the Golden Rams leading scorer, was held to 7 points.
 
KJ Doucet led the Wildcats with 17 points and 7 rebounds.  Myson Lowe contributed with 14 points while Pierre Mitchell finished with 10 points and 4 rebounds.
 
Albany State University recognized and honored Coach Robert Skinner for winning his 600thcareer basketball game (68-60) against Tuskegee University on November 15.
