The Albany State University Golden Rams baseball team won one out of three games verses the Savannah State Tigers in a pivotal match up against two of the top teams in the SIAC. The Golden Rams are now 25-10 (24-5 in the SIAC). The Tigers are 30-10 (25-2 in the SIAC).
In game 1, the Golden Rams fell to the Tigers (5-6). The Golden Rams were up 4-0 in the bottom of the 6th inning when the Tigers scored their 1st run on a ground out by Franklin that scored Smith, who tripled to start the inning.
The Golden Rams responded by scoring a run in the top of the 7th inning when Ross singled to center to score Thomas.
With the score 5-3 entering the bottom of the 9th inning, Smith doubled to left field to score 3 runs that would propel the Tigers to a 1-run victory.
Lavoisier Fisher was 3/4 from the plate. TJ Thomas, -Lachlan Ross, Nick Hernandez, Nate Lloyd, Malik Bell, Pierce Thomas and Zane Ross had a hit for the Golden Rams.
Jeremiah Reddell pitched 8 innings for the Golden Rams. Reddell is now (7-3). RahmirVaughn was the winning pitcher for the Tigers. Vaughn improved to (2-0).
In game 2, the Tigers defeated the Golden Rams (12-1). The Golden Rams finished with 1 run on 5 hits. The Golden Rams lone score came when Brooks hit a sacrifice fly to left field to score Bell.
Malik Bell was 3 for 3 at the plate for the Golden Rams. Nate Lloyd and Hill Corleywere the other Golden Rams that had hits in the game.
Jonathan Henry was the losing pitcher for the Golden Rams. Henry fell to (8-1) on the season. Enrico Peele (10-2) was the winning pitcher for the Tigers.
In game 3, the Golden Rams bounced back to defeat the Tigers (7-6). With the game tied (6-6) in the top of the 7th inning, Malik Bell scored on a wild pitch to ultimately score the winning run for the Golden Rams.
Lavoisier Fisher was 4 out of 4 at the plate for the Golden Rams. Fisher homered to right field in the 1st inning. Malik Bell was 2 out of 3 at the plate. L. Ross, Hernandez, Lloyd and Corley and a hit for the Golden Rams.
Brady Davis earned the win for the Golden Rams. Matthew Terril fell to (0-3) for the Tigers.
