Albany State mourns the loss of Coach Ken Veilands

The Albany State University family mourns the loss of Coach Ken Veilands, a dedicated former Darton College employee, and Albany State University Athletics Hall of Fame member. Our condolences are with his family and friends.

Coach Veilands was recently inducted along with eight members into the Albany State University Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2022 and was honored during a special ceremony at the West Campus Arena on Friday, September 2.

Mr. Veilands started the men’s and women’s soccer programs at Darton College and won the Region Coach of the Year Award 13 times while serving as the head soccer coach. Coach Veilands accumulated 267 wins as a head coach.  During his time as the head coach, his teams made three national championship appearances, won eight region titles, and made seven national tournament appearances.  

He is survived by his wife and two children.
