Albany State softball splits double header with Clark Atlanta

The Albany State Golden Rams and the Clark-Atlanta Panthers split on Friday when the teams played a double header at the ASU West Campus Softball Complex.  With the split, the Golden Rams are now (18-11) overall and (11-5) in the SIAC while the Panthers are (11-15) overall and (6-9) in the conference.    
 
In game 1, the Golden Rams won (6-5) in dramatic fashion.  The Golden Rams scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 7th inning to stun the Panthers who led (5-3) enter the inning.
 
Kennedy Dora drew a walk with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 7th inning to score the winning run for the Golden Rams.  Dora also hit a monster home run in the 2nd inning for the Golden Rams.
 
The Golden Rams finished with 6 runs and 12 hits against the Panthers.  Madison Hurt, Keyatta Ayers and Glory Seay finished with 2 hits each for the Golden Rams.
 
Mackenzie Chamblee improved to (6-3) on the season.  Mackenzie pitched 2 innings in relief and only allowed 2 hits to the Panthers.
 
In game 2, the Clark-Atlanta Panthers won (7-5) in 7 innings.  The Golden Rams started hot as they scored all 5 of their runs in the first three innings.  But, the Golden Rams couldn’t generate any runs in the final four stanzas against the Panthers.
 
The Golden Rams finished with 5 runs, 11 hits and 3 costly errors.  Glory Seay went 3/4 from the plate while Madison Hurt, Keyatta Ayers and Trista Murphy finished with 2 hits each.
 
Trista Murphy was the losing pitcher for the Golden Rams.  Murphy is now (6-5) on the season.
