EuroBasket friendlies: Estonia beats Belgium, 79-66

Lead by Maik Kostar’s 19 points and 8 rebounds, Estonia defeated Belgium 79-66. Kerr Kriisa was on fire from the land of three, knocking down 5 of his 6 attempts in scoring 15 points, Belgium was lead by Manu Lecomte’s 14 points. Once EuroBasket 2022 tips off, Estonia will play in Group C with Great Britain, Croatia, Italy Greece and Ukraine. Belgium will take part in Group A, competing against Bulgaria, France, Georgia, Spain and Montenegro. The top four teams in each group advance to the elimination round.

Germany snuck by the Netherlands 68-66. The Germans sat David Kramer, Andrea Obst, Daniel Theis and Franz Wagner. Without their services, Maodo Lo stepped up with 16 points to lead the way; Denis Schroder and Johannes Voightmana chipped in 14 apiece. The Netherlands got within one at 67-66 with 14 seconds to go in the contest. Lo had a chance to put Deutschland up by three, but bricked both free throws. It was not their best effort, and it took extra basketball to dispatch them , but France held off Italy 78-77. France certainly did not bring their A-game, shooting a frigid 21% from downtown and only 62% from the charity stripe; The Italians did not have their shooting either, hitting just 66% from the foul line and connecting on only 32% of their field goal attempts. For Israel, once again it was no Deni Avdija, no problem, as the Israeli team defeating Georgia,104-96, a trio of 18 point efforts from Yam Madar, Tomer Ginat and Roman Sorkin. The win was the second consecutive victory for Israel, having just defeated the SEC’s Auburn Tiger 95-86 in Tel Aviv. The French Federation of Basketball announed on Friday that Frank Ntilikina will not be available for EuroBasket 2022 and the next round of World Cup Qualifiers due to an undisclosed injury as reported by eurohoops.net.
