ASU to host Alice Coachman Invitational this Saturday

Saturday, April 9 Albany State will host the 2022 iteration of the Alice Coachman Invatational. Here is a brief bit of Alice Coachman history via Albany State Athletics : Alice Coachman made history at the 1948 Olympics in London when she leaped to a record-breaking height of 5 feet, 6 and 1/8 inches in the high jump finals to become the first Black woman to win an Olympic gold medal.  Coachman was born on November 9, 1923, in Albany, Georgia.  By 1946, the same year she enrolled in Albany State…

Albany State Track has standouts at Emory Spring Break Classic

Albany State Athletic Department has NCAA probation lifted

Tuesday morning Albany State University announced that the NCAA had removed the school’s athletic probation from probation status. As reported by WALB, back in 2016 Albany State began an internal audit of its athletic program. Following that the University self-reported potential issues to the geniuses at the NCAA. On Day One, Gbai, along with fellow classmate Ameenah Saalih and newcomer Sherri-Anne Norton, each advanced to the 60-meter dash semifinal, clocking in at 7:54, 7.65 and 7.63, respectively.
