70,000 pair of Counterfeit Kicks Seized in Thailand

As reported by the Bangkok Post, Customs officials in Thailand seized counterfeit shoes worth at least an estimated 100 million baht (2856326.93 USD) during a raid in the Muang district of Samut Prakan in Thailand.  According to Customs Department director-general Kulit Sombatsiri, the building was used as a warehouse to store 70,000 pair of sneakers, which included “Nikes”, “Adidas”, “Converse”, and “Onitsuka Tiger”.  No one was in the building during the execution of the raid.  The media was shown all of the shoes Friday, prior to being turned over to…

Stupid Things People Do For Sneakers: Teen Accused of Sticking Up Facebook Sneaker Seller

In our latest edition lowlighting the foolish things people take to get sneakers, we bring you the case of Javaris Platts. The 19-year old Jacksonville, Florida teen was accused of robbing a Facebook sneaker seller at gunpoint of a pair of Air Jordans. According to Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, and reported by WJXT-TV, the robbery victim posted an ad on a Facebook page where sneakers are bought and sold. This latest edition of Kobe Bryant’s first post-retirement signature shoe features a navy upper, with white Swoosh branding on both lateral and medial sides and the tongue Shozuku logo. Red is the color of choice for the DNA-esque snake logo on the heel. Nike pays homage to the UCONN Huskies’ record winning streak

With their 88-48 thrashing of SMU Saturday, the UCONN women’s basketball team posted their 91st consecutive win, which is now the longest such streak in NCAA basketball history.  To panegyrize this momentous accomplishment, Nike presented each member of the team with a special pack. This pack included the Kyrie 3 “Grey” colorway and a shirt saluting the 91 straight victories.  Unless you are a member of the Husky team, these pictures are likely as close as you will get to this pack.

Stupid Things People Do For Sneakers: Young Man Killed Over Kicks

Darrius Flournoy has become the latest unnecessary casualty of sneaker related violence. The 22-year old was shot by an acquaintance, 20-year-old Ja’Corrie Rogers, over a dispute surrounding shoes the two swapped. Police alleged that at approximately 6:45 p.m., Rogers pulled out a handgun and shot Flournoy multiple times. Neighbors said that at least five shots were heard. First responders attempted to insert a breathing tube and stop the bleeding from the multiple gunshot wounds Flournoy suffered.
