Gordon Hayward out tonight versus Pistons

Boston Celtics forward Gordon Hayward will miss the team’s Friday night game against the Detroit Pistons. Hayward had been scratched from the Celtics’ game versus the Mavericks on Wednesday. Head coach Brad Stevens said Hayward has been dealing with pain in his left foot for a few weeks. John Karalis of MassLive.com reports that Hayward underwent an MRI and no structural damage was found.

Hayward met with doctors and it was determined that surgery would be the best course of action. Boston Celtics forward Gordon Hayward is having surgery on his injured left hand today, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. Hayward injured his hand Saturday against the San Antonio Spurs. He had been playing well prior to his injury and was resembling the All-Star player that signed with the Celtics two years ago; through the first eight games he had averaged 18.9 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 4.1 assists on a scorching 55.5% from the floor, including 43.3% from downtown.
