James Jones releases statement on Ayton suspension

Earlier Thursday , it was announced that Phoenix Suns center Deandre Ayton would serve a 25-game suspension after testing positive for a banned diuretic. This evening, Lebron James benefactor and current Suns General Manager James Jones released a statement on the issue. Ayton will be eligible to return December 17 against the Clippers of Los Angeles.

The NBA announced that Phoenix Suns center Deandre Ayton will be suspended for 25 games due to a violation of the league’s anti-drug policy. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that he popped positive for a diuretic. Ayton had 18 points, 11 rebounds to go along with four blocks in the Suns’ 124-95 season-opening win Wednesday over the Kings of Sacramento.

The Memphis Grizzlies waived Ivan Rabb and and Miles Plumlee on Saturday. Ivan Rabb has spent both of his NBA seasons in Memphis, after the Grizzlies acquired his draft rights from the Orlando Magic in 2017. He appeared in 49 games last season, posting 5.8 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.1 assists per contest. For his career he has averages of 5.7 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.0 assists per game. Yesterday the New Orleans Pelicans announced that rookie sensation Zion Williamson would not play in the team’s preseason finale today against the New York Knicks due knee soreness.
