Golden State has not been mentioned amongst the teams at the forefront of free agency but It seems that Golden State is not just going to stand pat and let this offseason pass them by. They decided to go out and acquire D’Angelo Russell. As just reported by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Warriors and Nets have agreed on a sign-and-trade for the first time All-Star guard. Russell signs a four year, $117 million dollar deal. Details of the moving parts involved are forth coming.

Goran Dragic not involved in Butler deal
In the sign and trade that sent Jimmy Butler to the Miami Heat in exchange for Josh Richardson , it was previously reported that point guard Goran Dragic was going to Dallas, but apparently that will not be the case. The New York Times’ Marc Stein reported that forwards Derrick Jones and Kelly Olynyck were the heat players that ended getting sent to Dallas. Valanciunas opted out of a player option worth $17.6 million dollar, which would allow him to become a unrestricted free agent and negotiate a longer term deal with the Grizzlies. After being acquired from the Raptors in the Marc Gasol deal, Valanciunas posted averages of 19.9 points and 10.7 rebounds, which is a noticeable increase from his career production of 11.8 points and 8.4 rebounds per game.
